Great to hear your thoughts on this. I have been running a similar experiment for the past 2 years - being still to listen into what is emerging around me - I’m minimising (or at least trying to) social media and traditional media exposure. I am talking with people mostly F2F and walking a lot to hear what the world might have to say to me.
I am noticing I need to de-pollute myself for a good period of time to hear myself after I immerse in the cultural waters - maybe this is an indication of what is emerging for me from the stillness and earth is so often the opposite to the message I collect from our dominant culture.
To stay, hear and hold the earth feels like an act of healing.
Thansk Johnnie, I am currently reading Jonathan Haidt The Anxious Generation. He is very critical of the effect of that small rectangular screen and the SM within it, on our minds and our ability to deliver genuine attention to what we are doing.
I noticed that listening to you we got to hear the sound of mud squelching - I suspect that you got my genuine attention.
How much genuine attention do we need from others for our ego to be satisfied? This is what comes up for me listening to this.

Thank you... your reflections make sense to.me!
