"Premature encapsulation" ha!

Your ramblings reminded me of this article by Kate Thompson about 'Wintering' - https://usefulbeautiful.substack.com/p/ub-32-so-this-is-wintering

I'm starting to question whether my thoughts and ideas belong to me, or whether I'm tapping into a greater shared stream of consciousness, that our minds are like a prism refracting the light of universal consciousness into our own colourful perspectives. And so in sharing these thoughts online or in conversation, all I'm doing is reintegrating the colours back to the light of higher collective insight. The trick is to not let one's ego get tangled up in it, a trick I'm still learning.

This insight came from a song, 'Bold as Love' by Hendrix - a song that has been with me since teenage years but only recently pointed me to this interpretation and insight.

I enjoy your 'rambling' mode.

Glad you like the rambling mode, that's sort of how 2025 is working for me so far. I'll go check that link now, sounds good! UPDATE: I really enjoyed that Wintering article.

A lot here too resonates, Johnnie. Although I’ve never quite got on the merry go round of rapid posting, what you say about holding and savouring a thought, and not being in a hurry to share it is a good way to be. I find that there are thoughts, concepts, frames that keep percolating and won’t let me go. They will (and do) start to see the light of day. Yet so much of the time, I think, we have that all topsy-turvy and fear letting each momentary thought go unshared. The worthwhile thoughts will recur and gain solidity. And by the time we share them, we’ll have something more interesting to say about them.

For me, it’s not being first that matters, but being clear. Site, I do get anxious when I see other people posting something close to my half-percolated thoughts. I worry about getting scooped and then looking derivative. But when I delve into, the resemblances are usually superficial, and often spur me to more clearly articulate and differentiate my thinking.

Unhurried thought beats rapid fire silliness any day.

Of course, one can wait too long and lose the energy to share. Finding that sweet spot between responding to creative anxiety and letting a thought age sufficiently is always a challenge.

That all resonates. I think the fear of getting scooped is mostly a bit funny when seen from a distance, as it's very rare for a truly original thought to be expressed. What I value you more in resonance (a word I use a lot these days) which is an emotional connection based on subtler things that the technical accuracy or newness of what is being expressed.
